Cashmere Emergency collides Y2K pop-rap, live funk, disco bass, and early-2000s party production — with real horns and a real pocket instead of loops. It's rhythmic-first and built for a room, closer to a band that raps than a rapper with a backing track.

Marcus Lane brings the playful swagger up front; Dani Brooks is his equal, a soulful, gritty alto who splits every song with him. The name came from someone mocking Marcus for showing up catastrophically overdressed to a terrible venue — nobody agrees who coined it, and the band kept it anyway.
